Our chef
Master Chef Lapo Magni from Lapo’s Kitchen, former winner of the Italian version of Masterchef, has made quite a name for himself in the Cape Town food scene. Two years ago, together with The Climate Diet he revamped the iconic lamb bunny chow in a climate friendly version in the middle of the dried up Theewaterskloof Dam. In 2020 we continue our Series of Climate Dinners. Last year our dinners themes were Forests, Oceans, Soil & Waste.
For Climate Dinner Series | Indigenous Foods, Lapo will combine his passion for food and sustainability in order to create a beautiful 3-Course Menu with indigenous products. This magic will take place in his beautiful historic venue in Newlands.
Why Indigenous Foods?
South Africa is known for its wealth of biological diversity and for its high proportion of indigenous species. Research has shown that an unstable climate negatively effects the number of indigenous species and can lead to extinction.
What can we learn from these species, how can they help us to fight climate change and which can be foraged and which not? All questions that will be answered through:
- Inspiring Speakers (TBA)
- Eye Opening Open Air Cinema (TBA)
- Delicious Menu with indigenous products (TBA)
