M4F Covid Relief Fund

About

Mothers for the Future (M4F) was started in 2013 to support mothers who do sex work by providing a safe place to meet, organise, and access support as well as to build skills and share knowledge. This programme has been completely conceptualized, coordinated, and controlled by a group of mothers whose primary source of income is sex work.

The impact of the COVID19 pandemic on sex workers has been devastating; more so for sex workers with children to support. Of the estimated 158 000 sex workers in SA, the overwhelming majority are mothers in desperate need of even the most basic necessities.

Sex work is criminalised in SA and sex workers are not recognised under any labour laws and are unable to access any relief funds. The funds raised through this campaign will enable M4F to help mothers in the sex work industry and their children through this pandemic.

M4F currently also has two houses in Durban and Johannesburg that care for 15 and 7 children of sex workers respectively.

We understand that these are tough economic times for most of us and if you are not able to make a monetary donation, we have drop-off stations in Cape Town, East London, Johannesburg and Durban where you can donate food, clothes and other supplies.

We are in desperate need of blankets, warm clothing, staples and non-perishables, long life milk and sanitary pads. The little ones are in needs of formula, porridge, diapers up for to 2-year olds, vitamins, hygiene packs (soap, shampoo) and heath supplies such as vitamin supplements, Gripe Water and Milk of Magnesia.
