Black IPA is an oxymoron of the beer brewing world, but a style that is quickly gaining popularity.
Otherwise known as American Black Ale (ABA), India Black Ale (IBA) or Cascadian Dark Ale (CDA), Black IPA is a Specialty IPA style. Its key characteristic: Drinkability. A beer with the dryness, hop-forward balance, and flavor characteristics of an American IPA, only darker in color – but without strongly roasted or burnt flavours. The flavour of darker malts is gentle and supportive, not a major flavour component.
