ABOUT

'Locked Down: Love and Death in the Time of Covid' starring the 2nd year Act Cape Town - Film Acting Academy students, explores themes of love, loss, isolation, disconnection and the absurdity of life in lockdown. In true post-modern style, director, Rowan Studti, uses a pastiche of Greek theatre and absurdism to take the audience on a journey through the human experience during crisis. The play moves through time; shifting between the past, present and future, which emphasizes the universality of love and loss through the ages, and frames our global experience in 2020. The Greek chorus links scenes from the Elizabethan period, War World II angst and the present Netflix generation. The disconnected scenes highlight the ups and downs of life in lockdown; balancing moments of deep personal reflection with comic relief in the absurdity of the Covid pandemic.

The production premiers Thursday 26th November at 44 on Long, with a matinee performance at 4pm and an evening performance at 8pm. Bookings can be made through Quicket.com.

Do not miss your opportunity to relive the angst of the lockdown and the Covid pandemic through a dark comedic lens!
