ABOUT
An “oceanic feeling”. A sensation of “eternity”. A feeling of "being one with the external world as a whole". It is the preserved "primitive ego-feeling" from infancy which precedes the creation of the ego and exists up until the mother ceases breastfeeding. A description of the feeling that the infant has before it learns there are other people in the world.
OCEANICO is a music project which started through the collaboration in between South African and Brazilian “musicartists”. While reconnecting with each other and their selves – over the past year’s drastic changes – Paulo Costa, Augusto Castro and Blake Hellaby, composed, produced and arranged a compilation of original songs, combining traditional African & Latin music genres into an exquisite new recipe. The tracks were carefully built into an album, which tells a story of awakening and tuning up with the “new world” – first as human, second as a creator.
Accompanied by some of the best musicians in Cape Town, they come to present a “warm up” for the full production (lined up to be officially released in October 2021).
Paulo Costa – Acoustic Guitar & Vocal
Dane Paris – Drums
Liliavan Gangen – Percussion
Sean Sanby – Bass
Justin Bellairs - Saxophone
