A tribute to South African Theatre
Many artists are currently without work and income, as most theatres around the country are facing dire financial circumstances. Our thoughts are with the playwrights, actors, directors, stage crews and designers who have done so much to make South African theatre industry so vibrant and important to the country.
The aim of the drama production was to celebrate our South African theatre practitioners. To that end, Dr Higgo compiled a collection of extracts from South African plays ranging from the old and classical to the new and challenging. Despite the difficulties presented due to the pandemic, the cast and crew were able to shoot the pieces in one day, allowing the learners from St Teresa’s and St David’s the opportunity of working in a new medium. Whilst the weather was dismal, the enthusiasm and spirit from all involved made the day a wonderful experience.
