ABOUT

The Solar Plexus Chakra or Manipura (“City of Jewels”) is located in the solar plexus, the core, the navel area and is connected to the digestive system and pancreas. Its colour is yellow, the element is fire and it has connection with the sun, heat and light. It is characterized by the expression and realization of Will, personal power, personal desires and intentions and is related to the intellect and asserting ourselves in the world. Furthermore, it is associated with self-assurance, confidence, taking responsibility, taking control, making decisions, clarity of judgements, goals, direction in life, self-discipline, independence, personal identity, personality and ultimately personal wisdom.

When the Solar Plexus chakra is healthy, you may find balance between exercising your personal power and harmonious relationships with others, you may be assertive and exert your Will in a positive, constructive way, rather than a destructive way. Imbalances in the third chakra can manifest as: excessive control over your environment and people, manipulation, misusing your power, lack of clear direction, lack of purpose or ambition, being obsessed with minute details, making plans and not realizing them, or it could undermine your self-esteem and social life and you may have unhealthy preoccupations about social status and self-image. Or the opposite in the case of deficiency or blocked energy: Feeling of helplessness, irresponsibility, loss of control, hiding from the world. When we dance with our awareness on the chakra and hold positive intention for it to be balanced, we can be empowered to harmoniously “radiate our power in the world”.
