A true melting-pot of Cape Town Culture fused into a band, I LOVANE features iconic bassist, Spencer Mbadu, Soul-folk singer/songwriter, Nur Felix, vocal power-house, Mpumi Sizani and Afro-fusion drummer, Vincent Meyburgh.

 

Spencer Mbadu: Bass

Spencer Mbadu has performed and recorded with some of Africa and the worlds most celebrated musicians, from Abdullah Ibrahim, Johnny Clegg, Angelique Kijo, Queen, and many more. He has toured extensively throughout Africa, Asia, and Europe, sharing his intricate & uniquely African style of bass playing with millions of people. Spencer Mbadu is one of South Africa’s living musical icons.

Nur Felix: Guitarist, Vocalist

Nur Felix is an up and coming, talented singer, songwriter & guitarist from Cape Town. His song lyrics and compositions are infectiously catchy as they are uplifting and positive. In the last decade Nur has performed at music festivals, concerts and theatres across South Africa. His song, Peace Date, co written with Nancy Beaudette, was nominated for the international Peace Song Awards in Los Angelas. Nur has recently finished his first solo studio album, ‘We Are All We Need’.

 Vincent Meyburgh: Drums

Vincent started playing the drum kit in 1994 in a band called Funk- a-Berry and gigged at venues around Cape Town in the mid nighties. He then moved to Joburg to learn African drumming and formed Jungle Theatre Company. Over the years he performed nationally and internationally as a drummer in various musical theatre productions including the Makhanda National Arts festival. Vincent was the drummer for afro- gypsy band, Golovorez and continues to collaborate on various musical projects

Mpumi Sizani: Vocalist

Mpumi Sizani sang with the legendary UCT Big Band and performed in ISIGQI (RHYTHM) as one of the lead vocalists. She has performed as a backing vocalist for many well-known South African singers including Sibongile Khumalo in the production, Moya Wasechaba, collaborated with Madosini, Judith Sephuma and Sylvia Mdunyelwa, with whom she toured Japan. Mpumi has now been performing as a solo artist for 20 years. She has toured the world, performing alongside Khadja Nin, Shakira, Ismaël Lô and Richard Bona in European Festivals, and as backing vocalist for Vivian Jones (UK), Judy Boucher and many others. She has released her debut album, NDIYABULELA and is inspired by her faith and her love of African music

This group of incredibly talented individuals have joined musical forces forming the band, ILOVANE. Together they produce a sweet blend of Afro-Soul, Funk, Reggae & African pop.
