Finding your flow - Watercolour Workshop with Ros Koch

Ever fancied grabbing a paint brush and seeing what you can create with watercolours… but are too scared to know where to begin? Have you tried using watercolours but been put off by your early experiences or a fear of not being able to control the outcome?

Let experienced watercolour artist, Ros Koch, give you a guided introduction to this versatile medium. Invite some friends and together you can learn some tricks, try out some techniques and play around with the results. Or just come by yourself, switch off from the world for a few hours, immerse yourself in this playful process, and enjoy a feeling of energized focus with likeminded individuals.

There is no pressure to produce a work of art by the end of the workshop; it is much more about learning the beauty of using water with pigment, learning some nifty tricks as well as having a lot of fun in the process. The workshop places more emphasis on practical application rather than theory. No art experience is necessary.

Basic outline of the workshop:

• Get to know your kit - an overview of the paints, brushes and paper
• Mark Making - You'll be guided through some watercolour exercises, and practice creating different patterns and textures
• Shapes and Shadows - You'll learn how to apply light and shadow to add extra depth to your painting
• Composition and Colour - Develop an understanding of how to structure a painting and determine what elements to include or not
• Creative play - put into practice what you've learnt using locally-foraged reference material

It will be very relaxed and personal, with a very limited group size, to ensure each participant has individual attention and will be able to have ample time to ask questions. 

Morning beverages and all art materials will be provided. However, you are more than welcome to bring your own paints, brushes and paper should you so wish.

The ticket price also includes access to wander through the beautiful gardens of Old Nectar.
