In this session Herculene will cover:

·        Recommendations

·        Key differences between reports written for insurance purposes vs. post-vocational rehabilitation.

About the presenter:

Herculene van Staden graduated with a Bachelor of Occupational Therapy degree at the University of Stellenbosch. She completed her Master’s degree of Advanced Occupational Therapy (Vocational Rehabilitation) and an article on her research was published in the South African Journal of Occupational Therapy (SAJOT) (2011) Vol 41, No 3, p 70-78 with the topic: “Return-to-work (RTW) of Patients after Lumbar Surgery”.

 

She presented this paper at the 7th Congress of the Occupational Therapy African Regional Group (OTARG) in Livingstone, Zambia. Herculene has presented various papers with the focus on rehabilitation after work related injuries at work shops attended by occupational and physiotherapists, human resource managers, employers, occupational medical practitioners and nurses. She received CAMAG accreditation with the American Board of Independent Medical Examiners (ABIME) after successful examination of the AMA Guides to the Evaluation of Permanent Impairment, 6th Edition in 2011.

 

She is ErgoScience, Workwell and PGAP trained and completed the Essential Pain Management trainer course. She has been in private practice for more than 20 years and has a special interest in Return-to-Work rehabilitation. She also performs FCE’s for employers as well as for insurance and medico-legal purposes.
