Baby Hailee with Spina Bifida in need of operation

About

Hailee was born on 02/02/2023 and at birth diagnosed with Spina Bifida. Her mother and father could at that time not afford any medical aid fund, so Hailee was transferred from one hospital (after birth) to another where they were supposed to perform an MRI. After spending 5 days at the hospital, they were sent home without any help or an MRI. At the age of 3 weeks, the parents took Hailee to a clinic for her vaccinations and checkups and were given the news that Hailee has no feeling in her feet/no response to the tests (her condition is getting worse by the day). They asked family members for help to fund a doctor's appointment at another hospital. The neurologist told the parents that their baby girl must have surgery and that they should get medical aid urgently. The family shortly after joined a medical aid, but the medical aid would only cover the Spina Bifida from 29 February 2024 (by then it will be too late). Hailee must be consulted by the Neurologist asap again to determine the cost of the operation and how far the condition progressed. Their baby girl must receive another Lumber MRI and a Brain MRI for which the family cannot find any funding. The medical aid does not cover them and the pediatrician must monitor the progress of Hailee's condition. The family was able to get a discount on the MRI from the hospital, but must still pay R11,300.63 for the MRI. The cost of the operation can only be determined thereafter.

If baby Hailee does not receive the necessary care in time, she will not have any bladder or bowel control and paralyzed from the waist down. The parents will have to pay the MRI, any other medication/treatments, the doctor's fees and surgery costs cash as the medical aid does not cover any treatment related to Hailee's condition before 29 February 2024.
