CROWDFUNDING PROPOSAL FOR BOKKIES ACADEMY

OVERVIEW OF BOKKIES ACADEMY

?

Bokkies Academy is an upcoming kindergarten/creche in Prieska, Northern Cape, South Africa. Spearheaded by Lucinda Carstens - a compassionate, empathetic mother of two (Leo, 6 months old, and Lucy, 4 years old) - the initiative aims to provide quality early childhood education to the local community.

Prieska's working parents often find it challenging to fulfil their children's educational and caregiving needs. Bokkies Academy seeks to alleviate this by offering affordable, high-quality services in a secure and nurturing environment. The academy plans to accommodate up to 90 children initially, with an intent to expand as the project progresses.

Bokkies Academy will prioritize security by implementing advanced CCTV cameras with remote login capabilities, allowing parents to check on their children anytime. We also plan to provide transportation, further ensuring accessibility for families with limited means.

FUNDING GOALS AND BUDGET BREAKDOWN

WE AIM TO SECURE FUNDING OF R1,516,300 FOR THE FIRST OPERATIONAL YEAR. THE FUNDS WILL BE ALLOCATED AS FOLLOWS:

IMMEDIATE STRUCTURAL NEEDS

The current premises require essential renovations and improvements to transform them into a child-friendly, safe, and secure learning environment. As it stands, some areas require repairing and modernizing to meet the standards of a modern kindergarten. Moreover, we need to ensure our premises are energy-efficient and resilient to constant power outages, hence the necessity for a solar power system. These immediate structural needs are paramount to launch Bokkies Academy successfully and offer the best care and education to the children.

 - Landscaping And Light Construction: R35,500

-Artificial Grass, Gravel, And Concrete: R38,700

 - CCTV and Security System Installation: R61,000

 - Solar Power System: R180,000

Total: R315,200

VEHICLE REQUIREMENT

Given the geographical layout of Prieska and the spread-out nature of the local communities, the provision of reliable transportation is vital to ensuring accessibility to Bokkies Academy. We've selected the Toyota Hilux due to its durability, low maintenance needs, and ability to handle rough terrains - an essential feature given the local road conditions. We've also factored in the associated costs of vehicle insurance and annual maintenance into our budget. The vehicle ensures we can provide safe and reliable transport for the children to and from the academy, mitigating the challenge faced by many parents in commuting daily to drop off and pick up their kids.

- Purchase cost: R300,000

- Annual Insurance: R60,000

- Maintenance (servicing and tire changes): R32,000

Total: R392,000

LEARNING MATERIALS AND TECHNOLOGY

In our goal to offer a high-quality learning environment, it is crucial to incorporate technology and modern learning materials. The sad reality is that many children in Prieska do not have access to devices for learning or reliable internet connectivity. This digital divide significantly hampers their potential for academic achievement and future opportunities.

By acquiring tablets, laptops, and other learning tools, we plan to bridge this digital gap. Through this, children can gain familiarity and ease with technology, an essential skill in today's digital world. Furthermore, they will have access to a vast array of online resources, broadening their horizons beyond the physical constraints of our locale.

These investments in technology and learning materials are not mere luxuries, but vital tools to unlock the potential in every child we cater to. It's a long-term investment in the future of our community, equipping the next generation with the tools they need to succeed.

 - Tablets, laptops: R36,000

 - Projectors, TV sets: R19,000

 - Blackboards, benches: R11,000

  -Books and Coloring Materials: R6200

Total: R72,200

OUTDOOR PLAY AREA

The importance of outdoor play in children's development cannot be overstated. Outdoor activities contribute significantly to the physical, social, and cognitive development of children. For children in Prieska, opportunities for safe and structured outdoor play are often limited due to environmental and safety concerns.

At Bokkies Academy, we aim to provide a well-equipped, secure outdoor play area, encouraging children to engage in creative, imaginative, and active play. Our plans include the installation of swing sets, jungle gyms, and other play equipment. This area will be a key part of our children's daily routines, allowing them to exercise, interact with their peers, and develop their motor skills in a safe and monitored environment.

By investing in a comprehensive outdoor play area, we are not only creating a fun, exciting space for children to enjoy, but also promoting their overall development and well-being. Your support can help us make this a reality, thereby enriching the lives of our community's children.

1. Swing Sets: R20,000

  - These robust, durable swing sets provide not only a fun recreational activity for the children but also promote physical development and coordination. They will be assembled by skilled local workers, contributing to the local economy.

2. Jungle Gyms: R115,500

  - These large structures help to foster physical strength, agility, and balance in a challenging but safe environment. These will also be assembled by local workers, reinforcing our commitment to community involvement and support.

3. Outdoor Tables: R11,000

  - Outdoor tables offer a space for children to engage in various activities such as drawing, eating snacks, or playing games, promoting social interaction. Local craftsmen will be hired for the assembly and installation of these tables.

4. Outdoor Chairs: R10,000

  - Comfortable, child-sized chairs enhance the usability of outdoor tables and also provide a spot for children to rest or observe others at play.

Total: R156,500

By employing local workers for these tasks, Bokkies Academy is not just investing in the physical infrastructure of the kindergarten but also investing in the local community. We aim to foster strong relationships within the community and contribute to local economic growth.

OTHER NECESSITIES

We believe that to provide a comprehensive educational environment, we need to go beyond the basic requirements. Here's how we plan to cater to the additional needs of our students:

- Sleeping and Rest Area (R35,000):

A designated area for naps and rest is essential for young children. We plan to procure comfortable beds and bedding, along with white noise machines to aid in peaceful sleep, ensuring the children are well-rested and ready to learn.

- Health and Safety (R4,800):

Prioritizing the health and safety of our children, we will secure medical kits and other health-related items, creating a safe and secure environment for our students.

- Toys and Recreational Materials (R20,000):

We aim to provide a variety of educational toys, bikes, pedal-powered cars, and other toys to encourage creative play and physical development.

- Child Support (R9,600):

Recognizing that some families may be financially challenged, we intend to provide school clothes and personal hygiene kits for children who may need them.

- Aesthetics and Comfort (R6,000):

The ambiance of our academy will be catered to through decorations, large stuffed toys, local art pieces, curtains, carpets, and large colorful toy bins, creating a pleasant and conducive learning environment.

- Marketing Budget (R5,000):

We have allocated funds towards marketing and promotion to ensure we reach as many families as possible within the community.

- Regulatory and Licensing Fees (R40,000):

To comply with local regulations and obtain necessary permits to operate as a kindergarten, we have allocated funds to cover these costs.

Total: R120,400

By funding these necessities, we can ensure a comprehensive, engaging, and safe environment for the children of Bokkies Academy.

OPERATIONAL COSTS

Operating a kindergarten involves a multitude of day-to-day expenses that are often unpredictable. To account for these unforeseen costs and maintain a smooth functioning of the academy, we've designated R343,900 as an operational fund.

This fund will serve as a financial safety net for Bokkies Academy, ensuring we can meet unexpected expenses head-on without affecting the quality of our services or our growth trajectory. Whether it's sudden maintenance needs, increased utility usage, or an unexpected rise in other costs, this fund will enable us to respond promptly and effectively.

As the academy grows, this fund will also help us accommodate increased operational needs that come with larger student numbers. This includes hiring additional staff, expanding our services, or upgrading our facilities and equipment as needed.

Through this contingency fund, we aim to ensure the stability of Bokkies Academy and facilitate the planned growth of our operations, all the while maintaining the high-quality care and education services our community deserves.

  - Rent: R36,000 annually

  - Utilities: R18,000 annually

  - Staff Salaries (5 employees): R390,000 annually

  - Staff Training and Registration Fees: R16,000

Total: R460,000 annually

PLAN FOR SUSTAINABILITY

We've already signed contracts for 15 children for the initial phase, promising a steady stream of income from year one. With the installation of a solar power system, we aim to reduce operational costs in the long run and maintain consistent service despite power outages.

Our long-term strategy involves reinvesting income into expanding the academy's capacity and continually improving our services based on feedback and evolving needs. Bokkies Academy's ultimate goal is to become a beacon of education in the Prieska community, elevating the standard of education and subsequently reducing poverty and crime.

FUTURE GROWTH AND FRANCHISING PLAN

Our vision extends beyond a single kindergarten. We intend to grow Bokkies Academy into a national franchise, extending our compassionate care and quality education to children in small towns and major cities across South Africa. This long-term expansion strategy signifies Bokkies Academy's commitment to making a nationwide impact on early childhood education.
