My name is Mziwamadoda Advice Mbedu, and I am writing this with a mixture of excitement and vulnerability. I find myself at a crucial juncture in my academic journey at the University of Cape Town (UCT), and I am in need of your support to overcome the financial challenges I am currently facing.

Allow me to share a little bit about myself and my journey thus far. I am a driven and passionate student who hails from South Africa, proudly embracing my Black South African heritage. Education has always been my beacon of hope, a vehicle through which I can transcend the limitations imposed upon me and make a tangible difference in my community.

Presently, I am enrolled in the Post Graduate Certificate in Education program at UCT, specializing in Accounting and Economics. My aspiration is to become a teacher and guide young minds towards a brighter future. I see myself as a teacher, whether its financial wellbeing, mental/ spiritual and emotional well being or physical wellbeing, summed up into the phrase #MindMoneyMatter. I take great pride in my academic achievements thus far. I have completed my Bachelor of Accounting Sciences at the University of South Africa and have made significant progress towards a Bachelor of Commerce in Accounting at UCT. Throughout my academic journey, I have consistently achieved outstanding results, garnering 13 distinctions and earning the highest mark of 98% in my degree.

Education is not just a solitary pursuit for me; it is a chance to uplift others. I have devoted my time and energy to assisting others in their educational journeys. I founded and served as an accounting tutor for iThembaPB NPC’s virtual tutoring program, an initiative that aims to provide quality education to underprivileged students. Additionally, I have held various leadership positions, including Deputy Head Student of Varietas Residence at UCT and Committee Head of iThembaPB NPC.

Despite my relentless efforts, I find myself grappling with financial hardship. I have worked tirelessly, juggling internships and part-time positions at Price Waterhouse Coopers, Mobillion Business Development and Marketing, and Capitec Bank.
