Mosselbank Wetland Wonderers

About

The Mosselbank Wetland Wonderers is a group of juniors based in Greenville, Fisantekraal, that has a keen interest in the local wetlands and learning about environmental issues in their community and to meaningfully contribute to tackling these issues. This Eco-Club forms part of the Mosselbank River Conservation Team. The objectives include:

  1. Environmental Education: Foster a deeper understanding of wetland ecosystems among junior members, teaching them about the unique flora and fauna, the importance of wetlands in maintaining biodiversity, and the role wetlands play in the broader ecosystem.
  2. Conservation Awareness: Instil a sense of responsibility and stewardship for the Mosselbank wetlands by raising awareness about the threats they face and promoting community solutions to protect and preserve these vital ecosystems.
  3. Hands-On Exploration: Provide opportunities for hands-on experiences in wetland environments, such as guided nature walks, bird watching, and interactive activities (such as alien clearing and wetland planting days) to connect children directly with the wetland ecosystem.
  4. Art and Creativity: Integrate artistic and creative activities into the club to encourage self-expression and reflection on the beauty of wetlands, using various mediums such as drawing, painting, dancing, crafts and social media.
