ABOUT

Chris van Niekerk is a horticulturist turned conceptual botanical artist. He draws his inspiration form a deep connection with the natural world and his attentive focus on the uniqueness of the Cape Floristic Region.

Come and walk through his working studio and experience a master at work. He is regarded as a multidisciplinary artist with a wide knowledge-base that is strongly invested in a range of materials, how these materials are used together, and the processes inherent to those materials.

He works form his insectarium art studio in the heard of the fynbos and wine region in Mcgregor, South Africa. Besides the obvious visual-aesthetic of his work there is a biotanical scientific aspect which derives from his knowledge and experience as a qualified horticulturist.
