Trashion and Fashion Show and Competition at Benoni Northerns

ABOUT
An interactive trashion show and competition being held at Benoni Northerns Sports Club involving scholars who will show case their creative talents in competing to create fun and exciting fashion designs made out of recycled trash. Teams of 6 young creative designers each will be able to take part. The trash will be provided for on the day and a model from Rampage Modelling Agency will show case their creations. At the same time there will be a fabulous Fashion Show with models from Rampage Modelling Agency who will show off amazing and brilliant young designers outfits from Jimmy's sewing school. The models will be supported by Chikitas Fashion house. The outfits include matric farewell garmets, bridal wear and casual wear as well as a section for children. There are great prizes to be won for the best trashion show design.
Information for Competition Participants:
- Entrants must be registered in the correct category (Grade 4-7; Grade 8-9 or Grade 10-12)
- Maximum of three entries per school. A maximum of 6 pupils per group.
- No adult assistance is allowed. A mentor will be walking around and assisting where needed.
- All recyclable materials will be provided. Each school will receive the same material pack.
- Material packs will include, but not limited to: newspaper, plastic bags, bottle tops, egg cartons, cereal boxes, sweet packets, string and ribbon.
- Schools must bring their own working tools. Eg. Scissors, glue, glue guns, staplers etc.
- A model will be allocated to each group. These models will walk the runway with the group's final outfit.
- Pupils are to arrive at Benoni Northern's by 11:45, as the competition will officially start at 12:00.
- Schools will have until 14:00 to create their outfits.
- Prize giving will take place after the runway show.
- Outfits will be judged on originality, use of recyclable materials and overall aesthetic appeal.
- Please remember that the main aim of this competition is for the pupils to have a fun and enjoyable day, while learning about the value of recycling.
