Every year, DARG hosts our famous ‘Mini-Mandela’day on the Saturday before the real thing. A true family affair in the spirit of ‘Ubuntu’.

And this year you’re in for a real treat after your volunteer activities! One of South Africa’s leading performing artists and Fleur Du Cap award-winner GODFREY JOHNSON, is spending his 67 minutes at DARG to bring us a taste of his extraordinary talent.

Says Peter-Dirk Uys: “He sings, he writes, he plays, he composes, he directs, he performs, he listens, he laughs and he knows! Godfrey and I have been working together for over twenty years and every experience is a joy and an adventure onto new horizons. Through his patience and talent, Bambi Kellerman became a voice to be reckoned with in the wilderness of cabaret. I can’t wait for our next venture!”

VOLUNTEER ACTIVITIES RANGE FROM:

Cleaning dog runs, cat rooms and store rooms to laundry, washing dishes, puppy playtime and general maintenance.

ABOUT DARG

DARG is a charitable non-profit organization, established as a pro-life animal shelter and adoption facility in Hout Bay. Our focus is on rescuing, sterilizing, rehoming and caring for previously abused, neglected and abandoned cats and dogs. We aim to serve the communities of Imizamo Yethu and Hangberg. We do not receive government assistance and solely rely on the goodwill of members of the public. For us to achieve our goals, the help of the community is required in the form of donations, adoptions and volunteering.

DARG is currently home to some 200 dogs and cats and 10 farm animals. Our facility also provides basic medical care and support for animals in the surrounding lower income communities of Imizamo Yethu and Hangberg.
