Ukubuka Intambo - A rope bondage performance

Sat Oct 26, 19:00 - Sat Oct 26, 21:00

The Centre for Purposeful Living

ABOUT

Bondage can represent many things to different people and/or at different times.

To most, it is associated with captivity or domination. At this event, we hope to display bondage as what it means

to us: freedom and intimacy shared between friends , lovers and even strangers. We seek to celebrate the bodies we tie, to highlight their strength

in vulnerability and to celebrate platonic intimacy.

If you'd like to buy a hemp rope kit please secure one via the ticket portal.

If you would like to get a flavour of what the performance might be like, check out this short film by Ithongo Musings, Etana Patriot and Sunga Konji.

Important considerations for attendees:

The doors will be closed at 18h55 so as to not disrupt the performances. Out of respect for yourself and everyone else's time, arrive before this time. This door policy will be strictly adhered to and if you're late you forfeit your ticket and will not be refunded. You can catch the 2nd performance at 20h00 where again doors will close by 19h55.

This is strictly an 18+ event, as it explores themes of an adult nature and contains partial nudity. You'll be sitting on the floor for 45 minute periods so dress as you need to and bring a cushion for your butt.

No photography will be permitted, except by official event photographers.

The performers require silence - chatting/heckling/commenting is disrespectful and disruptive and you will be asked to leave.

This is an incredibly vulnerable style of performance, and incredibly intimate. Please respect the space and everyone's experience.

Rope bondage, whether floor-work or suspension has inherent risks and responsibilities. The performers have adequately prepared for this and have discussed matters of consent, happiness and pleasure around the experience.

If you would like to learn how to do this safely, please contact us after the event for more information, but do not try these acts on your own without training.

The performers might require some space after their performance to decompress. Please give them the necessary space and allow them to re-enter the social realm when they are ready.
