ABOUT

As unemployment continues to rise along with the cost of living, many feel the walls closing in on them. On the other hand, the pressures faced by entrepreneurs can often lead to anxiety and depression. The pressure continues to mount, and many in the corporate and entrepreneurial spaces find themselves using alcohol and drugs as a coping mechanism. In our country, suicide is highest amongst men, and in the Black community, we often don’t know how to identify the signs. The stigma around mental health is still strong and stops many from seeking professional help.

The BrownSense InSights event Black Mental Health Matters features talks by seasoned wellness professionals, a safe platform to share stories and experiences, and a panel discussion on overcoming toxic workplaces, as well as a book signing by Brownie authors Sihle Bolani and Mmathabo Mphahlele (popularly known as Mmathabo Mooa).

Let's remove the stigma against mental illness.
