ABOUT THE STORY CONSULTANTS:

Julie Hall and Justine Loots are both sought after story consultants, working primarily in film and television, with a deep understanding of story and character that transcends medium and genre.

Justine Loots

Works in documentary, television fiction and feature film. She has written on acclaimed series such as Traffic, When We Were Black, Ayeye and Erfsondes, and films such as Surfing Soweto and Otelo Burning. As story consultant she has worked on projects like Tess and iNumberNumber, both for TV and film. She is currently doing story development and editing a slate of Showmax original series. Justine has published short stories and mentored on the NFVF Sediba Masters Programme for 5 years. She is an approved NFVF Story Consultant. Justine is also a qualified Yoga instructor who has been teaching Hatha Yoga at the Sivananda School of Yoga, Johannesburg, for the past 20 years, and will be taking our Sunrise Yoga sessions.

Julie Hall

Is a screenwriter, story consultant and lecturer. As a TV Headwriter she has worked on commended shows like Bedford Wives (SABC3 and Amazon Prime), End Game, Tempy Pushas and Mamello. She has been a story consultant on box-office record-breaking films such as Keeping Up With The Kandasamy’s and Kandasamy’s The Wedding, Happiness is a 4 Letter Word and Hard To Get; and is the screenwriter of Zulu Wedding (releasing October 2019). She is a mentor on the NFVF Sediba-Spark programme and has conducted Masterclasses at DIFF, CTIFF and for the WGSA. She is an approved Story Consultant with KZN FC and NFVF. Julie has served as the Discipline Head of Screenwriting at AFDA JHB from 2014 to date.
