Constructions contracts are unique in that they regulate and stipulate when contractors can and may bring a claim for an extension of time, for the recovery of additional costs and expenses or, sometimes, both. Many claims fail because contractors attempt to recover something to which they are not entitled. Understanding the basic principles that underline claims, and the right to bring them, will ensure that time is not wasted on bringing claims that are destined to fail.
