?The Look Good…Feel Better programme is the Cosmetic Industry helping cancer patients, undergoing active treatment, in a practical and positive way.

Look Good…Feel Better provides free two-hour beauty workshops through a network of hospitals, and oncology units, specially designed to assist patients to manage the appearance-related side effects of chemotherapy & radiotherapy, thereby helping to restore their appearance & self-image.

Over 45 553 women and men cancer patients have now attended a Look Good…Feel Better workshop at one of the 36 venues in 7 major cities in South Africa since the programme began in 2004.

For three decades, Look Good Feel Better® has been dedicated to helping people with cancer cope with the appearance side effects of their treatment. Since 1989, the program has empowered 2 million women in 27 countries around the world to reclaim the sense of control, confidence, and self-esteem that are so central to wellbeing.

Look Good Feel Better is offered through a collaborative effort of the Look Good Feel Better Foundation, the charitable arm of the Personal Care Products Council, the trade group representing the cosmetics and beauty industry; and the Professional Beauty Association, the largest organization of salon professionals with members representing salons/spas, distributors, manufacturers and beauty professionals. Look Good…Feel Better helps women and men facing the trauma and stress of cancer, assisting them to overcome the distressing appearance-related side effects of their treatment.

Self-confidence and self-esteem can be at an all-time low, especially after suffering hair loss, pale or sallow complexion, uneven skin tone, etc.

Specially trained volunteer beauty professionals guide patients through the 12-step skin care and make up the regime with each using their gift of products which they take home to practice to make the very best of their appearance.

 These hands-on sessions provide patients with the opportunity to forget about their illness and enjoy a time of pampering, fun, and laughter AND also to learn. They meet and share with others going through similar experiences and, most importantly, look and feel fabulous when they leave the session.

And when a woman takes control of looking good, something wonderful happens .... she feels better too!

 The Look Good ... Feel Better programme, run under the CTFA (Cosmetic, Toiletry and Fragrance Association of South Africa) is generously supported by CTFA member companies; other companies within the cosmetic industry, as well as other supporting companies and individuals.
